Terraced Houses

The Terraced Houses are in the middle of Ephesus ancient site but the place has a separate admission fee for sightseeing. It is included series of houses on the slope of the hill on terraces. That is why some of the houses are on top of each other. They are the marvelous examples of peristyle houses from the Roman period.

There is a courtyard in the centre surrounded by colonnaded porticoes on four sides and around them rooms. The rooms and the main dining halls have beautiful mosaics on the floors and frescoes on the walls. It is impossible not to imagine rich Ephesian lifestyle and a metropolis taste for fine arts.
